multilateral governance for the sdgs

Switching on multilateral anticipation

The OQI has the potential to be the first truly multilateral effort to anticipate the coming of age of quantum computing. As a neutral multi-stakeholder platform, the OQI ambition to accelerate an effective governance approach to ensure quantum computing is leveraged to advance applications tackling humanity’s greatest challenges.

Since 2021, the OQI has been curating a diplomatic dialogue on quantum computing, with permanent representations in Geneva, with inputs from UN international organisations, the private sector and academia. As a first step, the OQI is working on the basis for a common understanding of multilateral governance themes most relevant to quantum computing. The outcome of this work is synthetized in our Intelligence Report.
